Workplace Strategy - Sony Interactive Entertainment

Supporting Regional Portfolio Consolidation Through Workplace Strategy

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) was undertaking a regional portfolio consolidation and needed to align its workplace strategy with the diverse ways employees work across the organization. Variations in roles, technologies, team functions, and workplace requirements made a standardized approach ineffective. The organization required a clear understanding of how different teams work to develop a workplace strategy that supported productivity, collaboration, employee choice, and the efficient use of its workplace portfolio.

Using our Workplace Experience Platform, we engaged more than 1,650 employees alongside targeted stakeholder interviews. We applied activity-based working principles to understand work patterns, collaboration needs, employee mobility, and the work settings required to support different activities. These insights informed space planning, team adjacencies, and workplace design, creating a strategy that reflected how employees work today while supporting future workplace needs.

CRUX delivered a comprehensive workplace strategy grounded in real user data, including workplace personas, spatial requirements, work setting definitions, and planning principles. The result provided Sony Interactive Entertainment with a clear, evidence-based brief to guide workplace design and regional portfolio planning, enabling workplace decisions to be based on how employees actually work rather than assumptions. The strategy established a flexible framework that can evolve alongside changing business and workforce needs.
